MTU engines for Fred. Olsen SA new trimarans
Fred. Olsen S.A. has chosen MTU Series 8000 engines for two high-speed trimarans, designed by Austal Australia, for operation in Canary Island waterswaters.

The two 117m-long vessels will each be powered by four MTU 20-cylinder 8000 M71L engines and Kamewa waterjets from Rolls-Royce. An eight-year maintenance agreement for both ferries will cover 24,000 hours of operation. The two ferries will work alongside the world’s largest aluminium ferry in operation today, the Benchijigua Express, also a trimaran and powered by MTU Series 8000 engines, which will have its existing maintenance agreement extended.
